Skills for the Future in National Apprenticeship Week
In recognition of the 10th Anniversary of National Apprenticeship Week. We would like to give a shout out to the current R A Brown Apprentices who assist with your installations. Currently we have 4 apprentices, Toby, Alex, Luke C & Connor.
Richard took on his first apprentice 15 years ago in 2002 and over the years many more have been trained with R A Brown Heating Services.
We were proud to have our commitment to training recognised when we were awarded Apprentice Employer of the Year award from the City College Norwich in 2014. In addition, one of our apprentices Luke Brooks, was being awarded CIPHE Apprentice of the year by the Norfolk group on completing his Level 3 Apprenticeship in the summer of 2013.
At R A Brown we believe the trend towards alternative ‘renewable’ sources for heating will continue and therefore we are passionate about growing the skills in the local workforce to be able to install renewable technologies. Therefore we believe local employers such as ourselves really need to support training in these technologies at apprenticeship stage.
As part or our commitment to grow a future renewable workforce, R A Brown worked with training provider, JTL in conjunction with Construction Training Specialists to include heat pumps as an option under the environmental pathway for NVQ Level 3 apprentices.
Gavin Springall, director at CTS said “we are here to serve an industry, we decided to commit to the heat pump pathway as after discussions with JTL and R A Brown, we understood the industry need. We are learner and employee led and work hard to make sure employees and students enjoy the service”
R A Brown apprentices are partnered with a fully qualified Heating Engineer to learn their trade and we rotate the apprentices within the teams, to enable them to gain access to a variety of working styles.
