At the end of July the Government published some of the details of the proposed Domestic RHI Scheme. It’s taken a while to digest the content and there are still some details promised for Autumn publication. A short summary as follows:
The scheme will cover air and ground source heat pumps, solar thermal hot water and biomass boilers. It will pay out on installations completed since 15th July 2009 if they were MCS registered.
Both on and off gas grid properties are eligible in the categories of owner occupiers, private landlords, registered social landlords and self-builders (other new build not included).
There will be a minimum efficiency for air source heat pumps – but it is a low figure of 2.5. Payments will be made on the estimated number of hours renewable heat produced. additional payments will be paid to a number of customers for having monitoring and metering equipment fitted.
